Each spring, I diligently trudge to Globe Life Field to help you, the consumer, make an educated choice at concessions stands.
I became concerned when Delaware North announced their menu for the Texas Rangers this year. Were they making it too complicated?
Sure, we all enjoy a hot dog [or “hot dawwg,” if you will], but they’re now special ordering giant tortillas and have a lobster guy on speed dial.

They special ordered some 26 inch tortillas for the Boomstick Burrito:
A massive 26-inch flour tortilla filled with rice, beans, seasoned taco meat, Rico’s Nacho Cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce and sour cream. Served in four shareable portions. Available at the Texas 24″ stand at Section 132.

They’ve also introduced three different lobster-based dishes:

Lobster Mac & Cheese consists of Lobster Sensations seafood blend sauteed in garlic herb butter, served over cavatappi pasta with a three-cheese sauce and crispy panko breadcrumbs Available at Section 106.

The Lobster Roll is served Boston Style (warm with garlic herb butter) or Maine Style (cold with light mayo, lemon, celery and Old Bay seasoning) on a butter brioche bun. Available at Section 106.

Lobster Nachos are Tostitos tortilla chips topped with white cheddar sauce, shredded Gruyere cheese and Lobster Sensations seafood sauteed in garlic herb butter. Available at Section 106.
Section 106 is known as the lobster section.
Because the family has a deep background in the Northeast, I notified a #ScaiaFam group text about this lobster situation. There were concerns about “green things in that lobster roll.” Also the mayonnaise got a poor review.
The Scaias appear to be anti-Maine, which is weird because I recall spending time in Ogunquit as a munchkin.
But I could not let these distractions take away from the work, so I moved on the dawwgs:

The Hot Dawwg Triple Play is a trio of specialty Texas Chili Dawwgs served with Lay’s chips [and we were old the sign above is a typo].
Texas Chili Cheese Dawwg – Topped with Rico’s Nacho Cheese and Texas Chili brand chili.
Bacon-Wrapped Dawwg – Served with pico de gallo and Cotija cheese.
A rotating third dawwg will vary by homestand. Each is available at Abner Double Dawwgs in Sections 3, 121 and 225.
Since the Red Sox are in town for opening day, Delaware North reports the opening third dawwg will be a Fenway Frank in a split-top bun with relish and mustard.
I was concerned Delaware North was abandoning its roots with all these dawwgs and lobster dishes, but they still provide the simplicity you might seek out at a ballgame.

Bacon on a Stick is thick-cut Danish bacon, cooked to crispy perfection and glazed with sweet Dr Pepper BBQ sauce. Served on a stick for easy enjoyment. Available at Sections 23, 123 and 230.
So they’ve still got this menu figured out. Plus, they know a lot of people from Boston and Maine might just be learning about Texas cuisine, so Brandon Hurtado is adding to his stand in Section 141.

Big Papa Potato is a large baked potato stuffed with butter, cheddar cheese and Hurtado’s signature shredded brisket, topped with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce.

Hurtado Smoked Wings include four whole smoked wing sections served with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. Available at Hurtado BBQ Stand at Section 141.
They’re also introducing new drinks including Lone Star Lemonade, Balcones Texas whiskey with lemon juice, simple syrup and a splash of soda, Texas Backyard Shandy, Teremana Tequila and orange juice topped with a light Texas beer, and Balcones Whiskey Sour, Balcones whiskey, Cointreau, lemon juice, simple syrup and orange juice topped with cherry syrup.
We were invited to try some of the drinks but only if it was okay with our bosses.

I then became concerned Delaware North would have to hire a full-time garnishsmith to torch sprigs of rosemary. He says they’ll rotate in different fruits and herbs over the course of the season.
Here’s a complete list of the new items.
And the reporters all helped ourselves to a buffet of lobster, hot dogs and nachos to celebrate America’s pastime.
